Alternative audio workflow

My normal workflow for audio is to make a copy of the audio file in the same folder, and then run iZotope RX9 Advanced on the original file if I need to clean up the audio.

But the workflow doesn’t work when I’m recording audio with my Sony video camera instead of with a separate recorder. RX9 don’t support MFX with four audio channels.

Instead, the alternate workflow is to extract the audio files into WAV file . For this task, I’m using a free program called Shutter Encoder.

The extracted files are then renamed from *.WAV to * (audio).WAV so I easy see the difference in FCP or ProTools.

Then import files an add roles to each audio channel into FCP as usual.

The final step in FCP, after setting roles is to sync the video clip with the new audio.

I can then run iZotope RX9 on the selected audio file as usual, and as I leave files in place when importing , will FCP use the adjusted audio.
